Dear Partner,
Merry Christmas and blessings for an amazing New Year. May 2017 be the best year of your life yet!
I hope you enjoyed a Christmas season full of love, joy and peace that Jesus brought into the earth. Like I often say, I do not believe that Jesus was necessarily born on the 25th of December, nor do I find the word “Christmas” anywhere in the Bible, but all that pales into insignificance before what I do believe. I do believe that Jesus was born by the empowering of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin, Mary. I do believe that He came as Saviour of mankind for as many as would believe Him. I do believe that it is a sign of His supremacy over all other religions that the secular calendar is based on His coming, where “A.D.” means “Anno Domini”. I believe that we can take advantage of how the world has commercialized the Christmas season and take advantage of their rapt attention to share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the reason for the season. I believe that it is a good time to show the love of Jesus as a Christian and as the Body of Christ in general to other believers of like precious faith who need a divine intervention in the affairs of their lives. That is the love that this season brings. This is why I celebrate Christmas. It is an opportunity to celebrate JESUS!
For me, 2016 was an amazing year. It was a year that revealed God’s faithfulness in new dimensions that I never imagined. Even in seasons that were potentially overwhelming, His grace was more than enough. That is the beauty of our God. He is a good Father at all times. Twelve months of the year, twenty-four hours of the day – you can rely on Him.
One of such days when I really needed to focus on the goodness of my Father was in August 2016. I was in the US on vacation and I had had a very challenging day. My Associate Pastor, Pastor Sola contacted me as usual at the end of his day and somewhat in the middle of my day, due to the time difference. He inquired how my day had been so far. As a declaration of faith, as I didn’t want to speak the way I was feeling, I said, “God is BIG in me”. He got it and repeated the declaration, “Yes Pastor, God is BIG in you!” Then I said to him, “God is BIG in you too!” and we began to declare to each other the “bigness” of God in our lives, families and ministries. That revelation continued to grow and when I got back to Nigeria in September, I declared to the church congregation, “God is BIG in you!” It became a faith mantra for many as slowly we began to see that the truth that God is BIG in us makes every other thing small and miniscule before Him. The revelation of the “bigness” of God brings the Word of God into clearer perspective and manifestation in our lives.
Leslie, as led by the Spirit of God, I have chosen to start 2017 on Freshdew by sharing this simple but profound revelation with you, the other partners and all our viewers. It gets even better! For the first time on Freshdew since we began 18½ years ago on Saturday April 4th, 1998, I will be having a guest on set with me! Pastor Sola Akinwale, who serves as the Associate Pastor of The Carpenter’s Church, will be on set with me teaching this series, God is Big In Me. We have already shot two episodes and they were amazing with so much of God’s presence manifest to illuminate His Word. The first episode will air on Sunday January 1st and Saturday January 7th depending on whether your TV station airs Freshdew on Saturdays or Sundays. It will also be available on freshdew.tv twenty-four hours a day.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Romans 8:31-32 NKJV
17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
1 Timothy 6:17 NKJV
As we step into 2017, remember that God is not only BIG and thus bigger than anything you may face, He is BIG IN YOU as a child of God. This is what Paul is declaring in Romans 8:31. If GOD be for you there is nothing else that can stand as a valid opposition to you as this BIG God who is on your side will swallow every other thing up.
Another dimension on the “bigness” of God is seen in Romans 8:32. He is BIG and He is generous. Be expectant for BIG gifts and BIG blessings from a BIG God. He has given us a precedence in the way He did not spare His Son, His best gift for you and I. Glory be to God. In Christ, He has freely given us ALL THINGS richly to enjoy! Let me stop here so I don’t give you too much insight into the episodes in the weeks to come. Spread the Word and let people know that it is time to discover just how BIG God is and just how BIG He is in each of His children!
