My sister and I had to travel to the United States for our father’s funeral because it was less expensive than returning the corpse to Nigeria. We had only three weeks to prepare and travel to the United States since we were only given a month’s visa for the funeral arrangements. We had to raise the money for the graveside and mortuary activities as well, which summed up to thousands of dollars.
This was a situation that almost overwhelmed us because the business boom was low at the time for my sister’s husband, but not our Father God. God arranged it such that both my visa renewal that ought to have been a drop box application fell on the same day with my sister’s visa interview in Abuja. It was strange because my sister applied and was interviewed on the same day. While waiting for our turn, the Spirit ministered to my heart that we should go in together and we did. I was asked about two questions and my sister was given a two-year multiple visa without a word spoken.
After receiving the visas and making other arrangements, we both had only about five days to raise the money for our tickets and complete our deposits for the funeral arrangements. We cannot tell how God did it, but we declared that the tickets would drop for our sakes as it was over four hundred thousand naira at that time and it eventually dropped to two hundred and seventy thousand naira. Amazingly, it went up to three hundred and seventy-five thousand naira the day after we paid for our tickets, and has increased since then.
We spent all we had and landed on the shores of the United States with only one hundred dollars. Our declaration was that God would favour us in a strange land and He did because before we returned, we used more than one thousand dollars and had some extra cash left. We bought gifts and even had excess luggage. God is faithful! Looking back at that event, we do not know how God did it, but He did it anyway.
