Dear Partner,
Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whose we are and whom we serve. I trust you had an awesome Resurrection season as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I have great news for you to brighten up your day – we have the victory in these trying times. We are born of God and we are overcomers the Bible says.
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
1 John 5:4 NKJV
We are born of God! You are born of God! He is your Father. That is such reassuring news. Well, to fully enjoy the Fatherhood of God we must know who He is. Sometimes knowing who someone is not, helps one appreciate who that person is. My father in the Lord, Pastor Charles, preached a profound message once that showed five simple things that God is not. If you catch these revelations about God, the enemy or your circumstances will never successfully tell you lies about your own Father.
We shall look at some verses in the Bible and see what God is not. From seeing what God is not, we can learn a lot about what God is and who He is. These will then give us an idea of what He can do.
God Is Not The Author Of Confusion
33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV
If He is not the author of confusion, then He is the Author of order and direction. God will give direction to those who need it today.
3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
John 10:3 NKJV
There is no need for any child of God to be lost and in need of direction. When you are at crossroads in major or minor decisions of your life, relax – your Father is not the author or confusion. Confusion is not in your inheritance; rather, direction is. So just quieten your mind and listen to Him. He will tell you which way to go.
God Is Not The Unrighteous Judge
1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,
2 saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.
3 Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying,’Get justice for me from my adversary.’
4 And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man,
5 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.'”
6 Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said.
7 And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?
8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Luke 18:1-8 NKJV
This is a misunderstood parable. God does not compare Himself with the unrighteous judge at all. Many Christians approach their own Father like someone who is reluctant to hear them and needs to be continually worn out with requests before He reluctantly answers. So, you see believers holding desperate all night sessions trying to convince a mean and angry God to hear them.
That is exactly the opposite of who God is. The key to interpreting this Scripture is in knowing that the action of the judge is in contrast to God!
In fact verse 8 says that God will avenge speedily! How different this is from those who say that you have to keep pestering God and tarrying tirelessly in prayer until He hears and answers! This is not the nature of the God we serve. He will answer or avenge speedily. Amen.
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:7-11 NKJV
He is a good Father who seeks to give good things to His children speedily. Ask in faith in accordance with His will and you will receive. Guaranteed.
God Is Not Unrighteous To Forget
10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Hebrews 6:10 NKJV
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
Because God is not unrighteous, He will never forget to reward your labour of love.
He says He will reward your work and labour of love. His part is to reward, your part is to perform the labour of love. It cannot be a labour of eyeservice, of fear, of men pleasing, of self-righteousness, of self-promotion – of such God does not remember and reward. The labour of love is for Him and for the distribution of His love and the expansion of His kingdom. What kind of work and labour are you doing?
Note also that the Scripture says, “…in that you have ministered and do minister.” It is a continuous labour of love not a once and for all thing.
Leslie, we must have a lifestyle of giving and being selfless channels of our Father’s love. God is not unrighteous to forget, so He is righteous to remember and reward you. Don’t give up before your reward comes. God is a rewarder.
God Is Not A Man
19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Numbers 23:19 NKJV
This is so sweet and supernatural. God is not a man, so He is God. He is free of all the frailties and imperfections of who man is. He cannot lie, He never experiences lack, He keeps His promises, He has principles that stand the test of time and circumstance. God’s reward is according to His ability and according to the abundance of His resources. He is not limited in His ability and His resources like man is.
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 NKJV
“According to His riches in glory” does not mean from His riches in glory. According means according to the quality and nature of limitless supply of His riches in glory.
Another name for God is El-Shaddai. There is a fivefold revelation of who El-Shaddai is which I cannot expound in this space. In summary, God, El-Shaddai is:
• The God Of Plenty
• The All Sufficient God
• The More-Than-Enough God
• The Breasted One
• The Almighty
Hallelujah! God is not a man – He is God! He is our Father.
God Is Not Mocked
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Galatians 6:7 NKJV
Whatever a man sows that is what he will reap. Isn’t that interesting? In all of God’s almightiness, the only limiting factor is you. No wonder it is said that a chain is as strong as its weakest link. Determine not to be the weak link in the chainlink of your relationship with God your Father.
38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Luke 6:38 NKJV
It says that the measure you use, is the measure with which you will receive. You can determine the size of your receiving basket by the size of your sowing basket.
In the final analysis God is not mocked. You cannot trick Him or coerce Him (by your fasting and prayers) or even emotionally blackmail Him (by your relentless complaints about your needs and problems) into violating the principles of His Word such as Luke 6:38. God is love but His love is based on principles and not emotions.
