Dear Partner,
How are you doing today? Seated in the heavenly places, far above principalities and powers I know! Glory be to God.?
We are excited about the great things that God is doing in your life. We love receiving testimonies from our Partners because testimonies are so vital to our Christian walk. Partner, as we begin to enter into the season of thanksgiving I would love to remind you about the joy of having a testimony to share.
A testimony can be described as something evidential, a witness.?
Here are three vital things about testimonies.
There is a testimony in incubation when you go through a test or trial.
8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them.
9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”
10 Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake.
13?But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.
14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.?
Luke 21:8-15 NKJV
Wow! How I wish we could all remember this when we face trials in our walk of faith. Too often we keep our focus on what we are going through (in fact believers sing a whole lot about “going through”) that we forget that there is somewhere we are going to and that place is a good place, a wealthy place.
Luke 21:13 says it shall “turn to”. That expression?“turn to” is a Greek word that means to disembark; figuratively, to eventuate, to become. It comes from two root Greek words. One? of them means “off,” i.e. away (from something near), it usually denotes separation, departure, cessation, completion, reversal, etc. The second root word means a pace, to walk (by implication) the foot:
Can you see what I see? I see a two-fold picture:
- Of a process of time. When you talk about distance then you automatically talk about time. It may take a while but all around you there is an opportunity for a testimony.
- Of something eventually changing, something walking away and separating itself from the trial and changing to a picture that is a complete reversal of what it was before! Hallelujah!
The Overcoming power in a testimony is released when you share it!
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the?word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.?
Revelation 12:11NKJV
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21NKJV
This portion of Scripture talks about the WORD of our testimony not the thought of our testimony. Do you now begin to see why I love to encourage you to develop a habit of sharing testimonies? It is one way of releasing the power in your tongue and choosing life over death.
19 Your pride and joy, O Israel, lies dead on the hills! How the mighty heroes have fallen!
20 Don’t announce the news in Gath, or the Philistines will rejoice. Don’t proclaim it in the streets of Ashkelon,?or the pagans will laugh in triumph.
2 Samuel 1:19-20 NLT
This is an interesting portion of Scripture showing a portion of Scripture that David sang after he heard the bad news of Saul and Jonathan’s death. The relevance to the power of testimonies is seen when you read it in flip-flop form (which is to read the opposite of the Scripture for that is one way you can study a verse of Scripture and get meaning from it).
Your pride and joy, O?[Partner], is alive for all to see! How the mighty heroes are standing! 20 Announce the news in the hearing of the enemy, so the Philistines will lament. Proclaim it in the streets of the city so the unbelievers will be awestruck and silent and realize that they do not have a god.
2 Samuel 1:19-20 NLT
Your testimony Paralyses the devil!
13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.
14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom?which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.?
Luke 21:8-15 NKJV
To contradict means to stand against, i.e. oppose, to withstand.
To resist means to refute or deny, to say against. Wow! When you begin to announce and publish the evidence of the goodness of the Lord in your life – the enemy will flee from you! Isn’t that so contrary to what people erroneously believe- “I don’t want to share my testimony and talk too loud – if I do the devil will hear and come and attack me some more…” Oh that concept is a lie of the devil from the pit of hell just to keep you silent.
1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.
Psalms 89:1 NKJV
Even when we don’t seem to see anything good around us to testify about, let us do two things:
- Let’s continually declare the goodness of the Lord to all generations. He is good and His mercies endure forever. His Word is full of His goodness to generations of saints who have gone before us. He was good to Abraham, He was good to Sarah, He was good to David, He was good to Paul, He was good to?Jairus daughter and He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
- Let us speak by faith of the manifestations of His goodness in our lives even before we see it and touch it for we walk by faith, not by sight. Oh?let us stop professing what we have (in the way of troubles and trials) and let us speak what God says we have knowing that we will have what we say.
