Dear Partner,
I bring good news to you this month as always and I trust that you are expectant to always see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.?
October 1st is the National Independence Day of the nation of Nigeria. Although Freshdew has viewers and partners across the continent of Africa and increasingly around the world, I believe that with our Base domiciled in Nigeria, our Circle of Partners will be glad to connect with the Nigerians in the Circle as we celebrate our Independence as a nation. More importantly, the truths I want to share in this month’s letter are relevant to Christians in any nation on this planet.
A Nation In The Midst Of A Nation?
Breaking News: We can be a nation in the midst of a nation.
32 “For ask now concerning the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other,?whether any great thing like this has happened, or anything like it has been heard.
33 Did any people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?
34 Or did God ever try to go and?take for Himself a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
35 To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD Himself is God; there is none other besides Him.
36?Out of heaven He let you hear His voice, that He might instruct you; on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the midst of the fire.
37 And because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their descendants after them; and He brought you out of Egypt with His Presence, with His mighty power,
38?driving out from before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land as an inheritance, as it is this day.
39 Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the LORD Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.
40 You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today,?that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD your God is giving you for all time.”
Deuteronomy 4:32-40 NKJV
As we celebrate our independence as a nation we see God call us a nation amongst a nation. This is not talking about a coup or a rebel group, it is talking about a spiritual holy nation set apart from the nation we find ourselves in naturally. This has happened before in Goshen.
22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days.
23 They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
Exodus?10:22-23 NKJV
We often talk about the darkness and hopelessness that we see in the nation of Nigeria. Let us rather begin to talk about the marvelous light that shines in the nation in the midst of the nation, Nigeria. For light cannot be hidden.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:4-5 NKJV
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6?If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
1 John 1:5-6 NKJV
Things will not change in any country by our wishful thinking and just speaking positively and optimistically about our nation.?We must rise up as a nation from the midst of a nation and release the light we have – against all the odds. As we do this, and advance deeper and deeper into territories yet unknown to us and untouched by us and drive away the darkness, bringing the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ. To achieve this:
Realize That You Are Chosen To Make History
Deuteronomy 4:32-40 NKJV
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are a kingdom of priests, God’s holy nation, his very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9 NLT
You are not an ordinary Nigerian if you have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light. You are unique. To be unique means to?be distinctively characteristic.
22 “And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the land.
23?I will make a difference between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.”
Exodus 8:22-24 NKJV
Your expectations should be uniquely different also from that of the average Nigerian. You are in the light and you should only expect things that are synonymous with the light. That is how you can experience His goodness and favor in the midst of evil and injustice.
Divine ideas that lead to witty inventions, divine business strategies, astounding educational achievement, mighty miracles that will catch the attention of the unbeliever – these are all what should come out from this unique “nation in the midst of a nation” as we set out to make history.
Rely On The Father?
36?Out of heaven He let you hear His voice, that He might instruct you; on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the midst of the fire.
Deuteronomy 4:36?NKJV
God wants you to rely on Him. To rely means to?be dependent,?to?have confidence based on experience.?We need to learn to depend on the Father as a nation in the midst of a nation. All around us people depend on men who they know and what they can do.?
When you rely on the Father, you rely on His way of doing things and His ability to open doors of favour and opportunity to you.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
6?In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
We must learn to rely on the Father?in all our ways. The problem with believers in Nigeria and, indeed, all over the world is that they have their lives in filing cabinets and some files are “Private and Confidential” and even God can’t get in. Note that I deliberately call Him Father so you remember that you have a relationship with Him.
In Nigeria, one thousand may fall on the right and ten thousand on the left but those who are citizens of that “nation in the midst of a nation” and rely on the Father shall not be moved.
Recognize The Magnitude Of Your Inheritance
37 And because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their descendants after them; and He brought you out of Egypt with His Presence, with His mighty power,
38?driving out from before you nations greater and mightier than you,?to bring you in, to give you their land as an inheritance, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 4:32-40 NKJV
21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours.
1 Corinthians 3:21-22 NKJV
Citizens of this nation have a great and mighty inheritance from the Father.
Inheritance: a)?the act of inheriting property;?b)?the reception of?genetic qualities by transmission from parent to offspring;?c)?the acquisition of a possession, condition, or trait from past generations.
“Genetic qualities” indicates that a Father can only transmit to an offspring what He has. The Father is full of goodness so your inheritance is full of goodness. God has bequeathed the goodness of Nigeria to you. Don’t sit there and let others walk away with it.?
A nation is defined as a community of people composed of one or more nationalities and possessing a more or less?defined territory and government.
There is a territory defined for you – are you occupying it? Where is the line of definition – is?it?your faith and your capacity to receive? Do you see the?lines of definition by faith or with natural eyes??
You are your own limitation to your inheritance, for your Father owns it all and He has given it to you.
5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.
Psalm 16:5-6 NKJV
[Name], the lines have fallen for you in the nation within your nation in present places. Hallelujah!
